In TO-STRING, `\\&' stands for whatever matched the whole of REGEXP,
and `\\=\\N' (where N is a digit) stands for
whatever what matched the Nth `\\(...\\)' in REGEXP.
`\\?' lets you edit the replacement text in the minibuffer
