This is GNU Awk. It should be upwardly compatible with the Bell
Labs research version of awk.  It is almost completely compliant with
the 1993 POSIX 1003.2 standard for awk.

Update to new version 3.0.4 Recommended update because of bugs in versions < 3.0.4 (as Dirk reports). Recommendation: probably it would be useful to import this version into -current, let it settle there for a month and then merge it into 3.x-STABLE.
