991d4d08c7 I couldn't test this, since it died partway through the build, but
it should fix the install. I did a partial test (which turned-out

8ce50883da The first time I tried committing this set of manpage removals it got
all the way to diffing yorick/pkg/PLIST and then died with a
"bad hostname freefall.freebsd.org" .... Hopefully that's not bad... ;-)

Hmm.. Maybe I'll try doing this from beast, next! kickme's a boring

The current version of bsd.port.mk has a bug such that it doens't generate
TMPPLIST at the proper point, and thus all 1st install attempts bomb.

48887e4ba8 Make these ports (TenDRA, egcs, gcc28, glibstdc++28 and guavac, all
under lang) use ${OSREL} as defined in bsd.port.mk rev 1.281 and
1.227.2.43.

Note gcc28 is hopelessly broken, it uses an undefined variable
${GNUOSREL} and thus has an empty string wherever ${OSREL} should
be. However, it's consistent with its own PLIST at the current state
so I haven't "fixed" it yet.

8a135bbda0 Install a wish script that spits-out all the various names for wish. The
script handles for tclX and tkstep. This is as per several discussions
on -ports. I expect one or two of the depending ports to break silently.

I didn't touch the ja-ports, since INSTALL.wish might want translating?

be translated?

2c8f4253cc Fix this port so that it can find crt0.o in /usr/lib/aout on recent
-current systems.

Fix the definition of the preprocessor symbol __FreeBSD__. It had
been defined as "2=3".

Implement support for weak symbols. This solves the "___error"
undefined problem on -current systems.

Default to -fsjlj-exceptions even for C programs. This is needed
because a few modules in libgcc are built with -fexceptions turned
on, and the default style of exception support causes croakage.

I tried a make buildworld on a recent -current system by adding the
following to /etc/make.conf:

CC=/usr/local/bin/gcc28 -B/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i386-unknown-freebsd3.0/2.8.1/
CXX=/usr/local/bin/g++28 -B/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/i386-unknown-freebsd3.0/2.8.1/

It got pretty far along before dying. The death occurred when building
our old native libstdc++, almost certainly because of header file
incompatibilities.

Another obstacle for make world is that this port doesn't currently
build a PIC version of libgcc (libgcc_pic.a).

7284b85420 Um, you can't install a file to a user's home directory (which is most
likely /root, and is useless for ordinary users anyway) during a port
install. If the port *needs* a startup file (which is pretty broken
to begin with...whatever happened to defaults?), then the porter
should provide a "run this first" script to set it up.

90731970a6 Fix the semctl() wrapper so that it will compile on -current systems
again. The prototype was changed in revision 1.14 of "src/sys/sys/sem.h".
In order to make this work on older systems too, I have incremented
__FreeBSD_version and `ifdef'ed based on that. Unfortunately,
there was a 3-day gap between when the semctl() interface changed
(May 30) and when I bumped __FreeBSD_version (June 2). FreeBSD-current
systems from that date range will still have problems building this
port.

6a9dce55d6 reimport of TenDRA, move it into lang like it was suppose to be...
TenDRA* is an optimizing C/C++ compiler, developed by the United
Kingdom Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA).

A primary focus of the compiler is portability through conformance
to standard APIs (ANSI, ISO, POSIX1, POSIX2, XPG3, XPG4, SVID3,
UNIX95, among others).

The compiler has strong static checking capabilities, including the
ability to check programs for conformance to APIs which are not
directly supported by system headers.

fa5dde5a30 This is a new port for egcs, which probably stands for something
like "enhanced GNU compiler suite." It contains updated versions of
gcc, g++, and g77 with many bugfixes and some new optimizations.
The C++ compiler in particular is vastly improved over gcc-2.7.2.1.

1ae5ada5ac Sorry, false alarm ... everything was fine, my environment on -current
was broken. I had an old entry for the plugin searchpath at the very end
of my .cshrc file pointing to an empty directory under
$HOME/.netscape/plugin :-/

The port is definitively working ;-)

Removed BROKEN completely from Makefile.

47ea76dcb8 Brian Handy verified, that tclplugin runs on 2.2-STABLE for all users,
not only root.

Again, on my -current machine the plugins are only detected with
communicator 4.04, if I start the communicator as root. Perhaps I
check again with a brand new user with standard environment.

Or could someone other please try it out on -current ?

77ee365f38 Updated TCL plugin to newest version 2.05b.
When running as root everything is fine.
When running as normal user, it doesn't find the plugin
when clicking Help->About Plugins
Therefore I marked the port BROKEN for now. please report
your experiences to me, I only can test it under -current and
I'm not sure if I trapped into a -current or config problem.
The FAQ tells to explicitely set NPX_PLUGIN_PATH when
installing netscape in a non standard place, but
/usr/local/lib/netscape/plugins is a standard place and even
if I modify /usr/local/bin/netscape, it doesn't find any plugin.
Even not the nullplugin, which is pretty standard I think ...
Please help me out here, if you have some spare time.

What it is ...

The Tcl plug-in lets you use the web in new ways. You can now create
pages that contain compelling applications based on a mature and
easy to use scripting language, Tcl and a robust user interface
toolkit, Tk.

These applications are automatically portable to all major desktop
platforms, and can be viewed with Netscape Navigator(tm), Microsoft
Internet Explorer(tm) and other browsers that support the plug-in
mechanism. Best of all, it's available today, free of charge.

2f8ef1af98 This is the Perl5 equivalent of the MNT_NOSUID patch that was put into
/usr/bin/perl a while ago. It works with 5.003 and 5.004-tobe.

I can't test it on freefall (I don't have a setuid script to play with)
but it works at home. I'll test on thud later.

Every setuid script found on a partition mounted "nosuid" will not be executed
and "Permission Denied" will be displayed.

It won't be in soo-to-be-released 5.004 because it is not a FreeBSD speciific
problem but it will be dealt with in 5.004_01 (maintenance release).

Obtained from: Jörg's patch (edited for Perl5 by me).

- put ftp site before http site
- commented out INSTALL_ALSO_AS_SSSL=	yes
because the apache ssl port is currently marked broken
- because of SSL brokenness I removed cgi-bin/nph-eperl from

This port should be revamped by the author to be organized like the
apache port, because INSTALL_ALSO_AS_SSSL= influences the PLIST.

a7ed5d35e0 lcc is the retargetable ANSI C compiler described in the book
`A Retargetable C Compiler: Design and Implementation'
(Addison-Wesley, 1995, ISBN 0-8053-1670-1).

lcc is a production compiler with a hand crafted lexical analyzer and a
hand-coded recursive decent parser. The lexer and parser code is well
written and very easy to read (and learn from :-)).

lcc compiles much faster than FreeBSD's stock [gcc] compiler. However, it
does not under stand FreeBSD's "long long" data type.

c1b1010ad0 Bootstrap pgcc-current using -O instead of -O2 (for safety reasons, I don't
want higher optimization levels result in unsafer binaries).

Fix bug, that causes core dumps when using higher optimization levels
than -O2.

Results with dhrystone 2.1 (1000000 loops):
	stock cc (2.7.2.1 from current)	:	136k	(136xxx)
	pgcc-current with -O2 :	138k
	pgcc-current with -O6 :	172k

And no coredump anymore. Reason for coredump:
With -O3 cc1 does an register-to-register-copy optimization and it tries
to write some debugging information about what it is doing into a file
that does not exist unless you have instructed cc1 to dump all its
information about its internal state. (From: Sascha Blank)

BTW:	PLIST is really coming soon, it's on my todo list ;-)

9a84e6bfb5 pgcc-current is a developer release of gcc 2.7.2 with pentium
optimizations. The motivation to make a separate pgcc port is, to
provide two versions, an official release, which is missing the
leading edge of developement and an interesting current version,
which fixes some things and might breake (or not) others.

Fact is, that one is able to compile and run a complete FreeBSD-current
kernel without trouble and so closes 2 PR's.

9aef92e855 Split this port into two pieces, with most of the work now being done by
the new "modula-3-lib" port. The split allows one to save a lot of
disk space by installing only the shared libraries needed for executing
programs. The full "modula-3" port is needed only if you want to
compile programs as well.

d5a92ea924 Split the Modula-3 port into two pieces, creating a new port
"modula-3-lib". It installs only the shared libraries needed for
executing Modula-3 programs. This saves a lot of disk space for
people who need to run Modula-3 programs but don't need to build
them. The original "modula-3" port now depends on this one, and
uses it to install the compiler and the rest of the development
system.

Also, everything is now built with optimization. I have been
testing this for at least a month, and haven't seen any problems
from it. It makes the libraries and executables substantially
smaller.

This new port also includes some hooks that will make SOCKS support
possible in the near future.

9fe01e692e Update the Modula-3 port with two main goals in mind.
First, change the port so that it builds a much smaller subset of
the SRC distribution. This eliminates the enormous swap space
requirements of the earlier port, greatly reduces the footprint of
the installed tree, and cuts the size of the package in half.

Second, include many important new patches. Among them is a slightly
modified version of phkmalloc that is thread-safe for Modula-3.
It eradicates some rare and baffling core dumps that cropped up
from time to time in the previous version of the port. The Modula-3
runtime itself is careful to use mutual exclusion around calls to
malloc. But there remained some sneaky backdoor paths into it from
external libraries.

Confession: In the original version of the Modula-3 port, I used
a major version number of 353 for the shared libraries, to correspond
with the SRC version number 3.5.3. That was a dumb move -- I should
have used 1. The current update is incompatible at the shared
library level, requiring me to increment the major version number
to 354, even though this is still based on SRC release 3.5.3. This
is bound to confuse some folks, unfortunately. I weighed a number
of alternatives, such as (a) cheating and going back to 1, and (b)
using a 4-digit major version such as 3531. But in the end I
decided that 354 would be the best solution, even though it's
confusing.

[The rush to 5.003 couldn't integrate this, so here it is]

The following is a patch for perltrap.pod, from 5.003 (also 5.002).
It integrates the latest version of my simple 425traps
document. 425traps demonstrated, with examples, all of the traps
which have been discovered and sent to me, which have bitten
folks making the transition from perl4 to perl5. It also gave
an example for each one, including all of the existing perl4
traps in perltrap.pod.

As always, if you discover something that isn't documented in
one form or another in here, and isn't an official (or at least
reported) bug, drop me a line with it. Also, when or if any
of these is ever formally declared a bug, I'll take it out.

tcl/tk even if they are properly found by LIB_DEPENDS. Make it
only extract in that case.

While I'm here, make expect and expectk link with shared tcl/tk libs.
expectk used to be a 1/2 MB binary! (now it's 136KB)

I'd also rather change `-g' to whatever CFLAGS defined in
/etc/make.conf, but the author of expect has an explicit comment in
the Makefile about him not trusting compilers' optimization. Well,

49caa3269b I fixed it so that it works right. Basically the same changes were
needed as for the g77 port, except this time since a new compiler
exectuable isn't getting produced (and I wonder why its that way)
one will need to use -B${PREFIX}/libexec/ every time they wish to
compile ada sources, since gcc doesn't look in /usr/local/libexec/.

It seems to work... I ran it on the examples directory. Someone
who knows ada well should test it I suppose.

4fa9c45b4a Reason I started changing this makefile was because I noticed asami
got the version number wrong which was because Jordan got the version
number wrong, it had 7.3 instead of 3.1, kind of far off (can anyone say
Tcl?) anyways, I also noticed that it didn't even work to begin with
because there was

a) no install target
b) it ignored ${PREFIX}

so I fixed it up and added myself as MAINTAINER, unless anyone minds,
I didn't do this originally, but I see bh (the implementor) three tines
a week so I can probably deal with problems pretty well.

there's something a little weird about this port, I had to make a
FreeBSD specific distfile, using two of the official distfiles. I
included a description of what I had done, but it is much easier
(and saves downloading about 3 megs) to use this distfile.
So, how do I get the distfile I've made into the right place without
faking it out by first putting a real site and then changing it
to always use freebsd.cdrom.com? the distfile is in
freefall.cdrom.com:~jmacd/scheme-microcode+dist-7.3-freebsd.tgz

86793c984d Converted Makefiles as much as I could.
(1) Took out INSTALL_MANPAGES (not necessary anymore, porter should
set NO_INSTALL_MANPAGES for not calling "make install.man")

(2) Replaced most of DEPENDS with EXEC_DEPENDS and LIB_DEPENDS. These
    are the entries I used:

    EXEC_DEPENDS:
      unzip:${PORTSDIR}/archivers/unzip
      gmake:${PORTSDIR}/devel/gmake
      wishx:${PORTSDIR}/lang/tclX
      xli:${PORTSDIR}/graphics/xli
      gs:${PORTSDIR}/print/ghostscript
      gunshar:${PORTSDIR}/archivers/gshar+gunshar
      hfs:${PORTSDIR}/utils/hfs
      rman:${PORTSDIR}/utils/rman

    LIB_DEPENDS:
      tiff\\.3\\.:${PORTSDIR}/graphics/tiff
      jpeg\\.5\\.:${PORTSDIR}/graphics/jpeg
      Xpm\\.4\\.:${PORTSDIR}/graphics/xpm
      tcl\\.7\\.:${PORTSDIR}/lang/tcl
      tk\\.3\\.:${PORTSDIR}/x11/tk
      xview\\.1\\.:${PORTSDIR}/x11/xview-lib
      Xaw3d\\.:${PORTSDIR}/x11/Xaw3d
      mpeg\\.1\\.:${PORTSDIR}/graphics/mpeg-lib
      xview\\.3\\.:${PORTSDIR}/x11/xview-lib
      BLT\\.1\\.:${PORTSDIR}/x11/blt

There are still some dependencies I can't figure out what exactly
is needed. If your port still has DEPENDS in it, please check it out!
