D'oh! Back out the previous commit.

I thought I should allow users to pass those variables from command
line (make CFLAGS='-O6', etc.), but it wasn't supposed to work anyway.

Add BSD-style Makefiles for building & installation.
Use a tarball distribution instead of the zip one which includes
redundant Windows binaries.
Take over the maintainership.
