5ea0ae111d When not using SCB paging, we can always directly index the SCB of interest
either by looking it up in the array of pending, per target, untagged
transactions, or by using the tag value passed in during the identify. The
old code only direct indexed for tagged transactions. This makes the
"findSCB" routine only necessary when SCB paging is enabled, so appropriately
conditionalize it. This greatly simplifies the non SCB paging code flow.

31774f6d83 Interim patch/kludge for keyboard lock-up when `kbdcontrol' tries to
change typematic rate, or the X server (XFree86 or Accelerated X)
starts up.

So far, there have been two independent reports from Dell Latitude XPi
notebook/laptop owners. The Latitude seems to be the only system which
suffers from this problem. (I don't know the problem is with the
entire Latitude line or with only some Latitude models) No problem
report has been heard about other systems (I certainly cannot
reproduce the problem in my -current and 2.2 systems).

In 3.0-CURRENT, 2.2-RELEASE and 2.2-GAMMA-970310, when programming the
keyboard LED/repeat-rate, `set_keyboard()' in `syscons' tells the
keyboard controller not to generate keyboard interrupt (IRQ1) and then
enable tty interrupts, expecting the keyboard interrupt doesn't occur.

It appears that somehow Latitude's keyboard controller still generates
the keyboard interrupt thereafter, and `set_keyboard()' doesn't see
the return code from the keyboard because it is consumed by the
keyboard interrupt handler.

The patch entirely disables tty interrupts while setting LED and
typematic rate in `set_keyboard()', making the routine behave more
like the previous versions of `syscons' (versions in 2.1.X and
2.2-ALPHA, -BETA, and some -GAMMAs). The reporter said this patch
eliminated the problem.

(I also found another typo/bug, but the reporter and I found that it
wasn't the cause of the problem...)

This should go into RELENG_2_2.

Fixed a bug in fxp_mdi_write - a hex number was missing a preceding 0x

Added support for link0, link1, and link2 flags to toggle auto-
negotiation, 10/100, and half/full duplex:

link0	disable auto-negotiation

When set, these flags then have meaning:

	-link1	10Mbps

	link2	full duplex

c5cb388883 Makefile gram.y scan.l sequencer.h symbol.c symbol.h aic7xxx_asm.c:
New sequencer assembler for the aic7xxx adapters. This assembler
performs some amount of register type checking, allows bit
manipulation of symbolic constants, and generates "patch tables"
for conditionalized downloading of portions of the program.
This makes it easier to take full advantage of the different
features of the aic7xxx cards without imposing run time penalies
or being bound to the small memory footprints of the low end
cards for features like target mode.

aic7xxx.reg:
New, assembler parsed, register definitions fo the aic7xxx cards.
This was done primarily in anticipation of 7810 support which
will have a different register layout, but should be able to use
the same assembler. The kernel aic7xxx driver consumes a generated
file in the compile directory to get the definitions of the register
	locations.

aic7xxx.seq:
Convert to the slighly different syntax of the new assembler.

Conditionalize SCB_PAGING, ultra, and twin features which shaves
quite a bit of space once the program is downloaded.

Add code to leave the selection hardware enabled during reconnects
that win bus arbitration. This ensures that we will rearbitrate
as soon as the bus goes free instead of delaying for a bit.

When we expect the bus to go free, perform all of the cleanup
associated with that event "up front" and enter a loop awaiting
bus free. If we see a REQ first, complain, but attempt to
continue. This will hopefully address, or at least help diagnose,
the "target didn't send identify" messages that have been reported.

Spelling corrections obtained from NetBSD.

9b2a5540ff No longer clear all interrupt status when the sequencer is reset. The only
time that we really want to do this is when a bus reset causes the sequencer
to be reset and the kernel driver now handles this case.

Remove some reordering in the select2 routine that wasn't necessary.
It was an experimental fix for a race condition I fixed elsewhere, and
confused the code flow.

Don't bother looping on a parity error in the mesgout loop since we can't
see parity errors on out phases.

Clean up the mesgin_identify code. In the old days, we "snooped" for tag
messages and used this as an indicator of whether or not the target was
using tagged transactions. This forced the sequencer to ack the identify
before determining if a valid SCB matched the target meaning that an abort
message to handle this case might not be seen before the target entered a
data phase. Since we can determin the "tagged-ness" of a target by looking
it up in the array of busy targets (recently introduced), we can determine
this up front simplifying the search code as well as ensuring we can follow
the SCSI specs method for rejecting a reselection.

When an SCB is placed on the free list, set its SCB_TAG to SCB_LIST_NULL.
This makes it much easier for the kernel driver to find active SCBs on the
card during error recovery.

5154778752 Enlarge the message out buffer from 6 to 8 bytes. Now that sync and wide
negotiation messages may be tagged, we were overrunning the old buffer.
The variable that was getting squashed is updated before the message goes
out, causing corrupted SDTR or WDTR messages. Depending on the phases
traversed before message out, this could cause the wrong offset to be
negotiated allowing data overruns to occur. The problem is easier to
detect with wide targets on the chain since the allowed offset is smaller.

Also removed the unnecessary clearing of SPIORDY during the message out
phase. We don't rely on SPIORDY any more.

499c4ce9f6 Clear the DFCNTRL register after every busfree.
When setting the HCNT registers, do so in ascending order.

When performing tagged queueing in non-paging mode, also check the
disconnected bit in the SCB as extra sanity during a reconection.

Make the labels in the DMA routine more sane.

When doing a DMA, if we see the DMADONE condition come true, we can
simply turn of the DMA enable bits in DFCNTRL without testing the FIFO
state as HDONE is true when DMADONE is true and this emplies the FIFO is
empty.

These changes clear up the data overrun error messages and seem to prevent
the "timed out in data-in phase" problems.

160da193e0 Fixes and workarounds for Hayes ESP:
- don't uselessly initialize the fifo "DMA" bit at attach time.
- initialize the fifo "DMA" bit at open time. Without this, the device

  to that of an 8250.
- don't uselessly initialize the fifo trigger level to 8 (scaled to
  256) at attach time.
- don't scale the fifo trigger level to 512 bytes. The driver's pseudo-
dma buffer has size 256, so it can't handle bursts of size 512 or 256.
It should be able to handle the second lowest ftl (2 scaled to 64).
- don't reset the fifos in siostop(). Reset triggers a hardware bug
involving wedging of the output interrupt bit This workaround

6d14c339f6 Clear the SCSI channel after we go to busfree instead of after re/selection.
Only enable reselections once the channel and SCSIRATE have been cleared.

Add a pause block around the test busy code in the non-tagged case to simplify
error recovery in the corner case of aborting an SCB that just got started.

Simplify reselection processing by removing the call to initialize_scsiid.

Clear the scsiseq re/select control bits and setup for catching bogus
busfrees earlier in the re/select process.

Improve the automatic PIO code. It turns out that SPIORDY is not a reliable
hardware condition bit, so use REQINIT intstead. Don't rely on PHASEMIS
either since it can take too long to come true. Use a brute force comparison
instead.

Remove some unnecessary overhead in the command complete processing. It
should be nearly impossible to overflow the QOUTFIFO (worst case 9 command
have to complete with at least 6 of them requiring paging on an aic7850),
so don't take the additional PIO hit to guard against this condition. If we
don't see our interrupt in time, the system has bigger problems elsewhere.
If this ever does happen, the timeout handler will notice and retry the
command.

171b420b11 Bruce pointed out a bogon:
cur_console is NULL when copy_font() is first called from scinit(). This
is apparently harmless when scinit() is called early from sccninit() -
page 0 is apparently mapped r/w then, and 0->status contains suitable
garbage. However, when there is a serial console, scinit() is first
called from scattach() when the page tables are completely initialized,
so the NULL pointer causes a panic.

1f9d9075e4 Alot of fixes from kazu:
1. All the suggestions earlier made by Bruce: renaming some symbols,
stricter error checking, removing redundant code, etc.

2. The `psm' driver preserves the default counter resolution and
report rate, whatever they are after reset. (Based on reports and
suggestion from Nate and Rob Bolin).

3. The `psm' driver now does not check the so-called sync. bit in the
first byte of the data packet by default, so that the tapping feature
of ALPUS GlidePoint works (based on reports from Louis Mamakos). I
tested the code with ALPUS Desktop GlidePoint (M/N GP101) and found
no problem; tapping worked. It appears ALPUS produces several models
of GlidePoint. I hope the other models are OK too.

The check code can still be activated by defining the PSM_CHECKSYNC
option in the config file. (The bit checking slightly reduces, if not
completely eliminates, weird mouse behavior cased by unsynchronized
mouse data packets. It also helps us to detect if the mouse interrupt
can ever be lost. But, well, if there are devices which cannot be
supported this way...)

4. The `psm' driver does not include the protocol emulation code by
default. The code can still be compiled in if the PSM_EMULATION option
is specified in the config file. Louis Mamakos suggests the emulation
code is putting too much in the kernel, and `moused' works well.
I will think about this later and decide if the entire emulation
code should be removed.

5. And, of course, the fix in `scprobe()' from Bruce to cure the
UserConfig problem. My code in `kbdio.c' is slightly different from
his patch, but has the same effect. There still is a possibility that
`scprobe()' gets confused, if, for whatever reasons, the user holds
down a key for very long time during the boot process. But we cannot
cope with everything, can we?

79c2a5b3ff Cosmetic code cleanup from Matt's latest driver.
a) Removal of private typedefs tulip_uint*_t, use standard u_int_*_t.

b) Change [Dd][Cc]21.4. to just 21.4., seems Dec has done this to all
of the drivers for all OS's. (Did they get in trouble with someone?)
[The few that remain can either not be eliminated, or are waiting for
additional driver functional changes that will remove them.]

c) Move some code from dc21040.h into the driver, later a whole block of that
code and more will move to devar.h, but for now this makes it easier
    to study diffs.

d) Add a big bold comment to the README.de file about it not reflecting

change in the driver whatsoever. If _anyone_ spots a problem introduced

70f6e5521c Conditionally enable the busfree interrupt to catch unexpected busfrees.
Immediate SCBs, since they always send messages that tell the target to
transition to bus free now rely on the busfree interrupt instead of the
IMMEDDONE sequencer interrupt that was generated before.

Rearrange some code in the message out loop to give ATN a little more time
to drop before we ACK the last byte.

Use SPIORDY instead of REQINIT when snooping for a tag message on a reconnect.
This is done for the same reasons we use SPIORDY in the inb functions.

When going into BITBUCKET mode, turn off HDMAEN in the DFCNTRL register so
that we can "not care" what the value of HCNT is. If HCNT is 0, BITBUCKET
mode won't transfer any data if HDMAEN is set. Seeing as we don't want the
transfer to even think about touching the host, this seems more sane anyway.

ad34debda8 Change the way Automatic PIO is performed in the mesgin and mesgout phases.
SPIORDY should go active on any REQ of the bus, so testing for REQINIT is
not necessary. It also seems that testing for SPIORDY is more robust then
REQINIT since SPIORDY comes active after REQINIT and PHASEMIS seems to take
some time to come true after REQ is asserted if the phase has changed. Of
course, none of this is documented.

This should give the code savings of my original changes, without breaking the

b3ac88f13f New vx driver for:
3COM 3C590 Etherlink III PCI,
        3COM 3C595 Fast Etherlink PCI,
        3COM 3C592 Etherlink III EISA,
        3COM 3C590 Fast Etherlink EISA,
3COM 3C900 Etherlink XL PCI and
3COM 3C905 Fast Etherlink XL PCI.

This driver is based on OpenBSD's driver. I modified it to run under FreeBSd
and made it actually work usefully.
Afterwards, nao@tom-yam.or.jp (HAMADA Naoki) added EISA support as well as
early support for 3C900 Etherlink XL PCI and 3C905 Fast Etherlink XL PCI.
He also split up the driver in a bus independant and bus dependant parts.

Especially the 3c59X support should be pretty stable now.

66e7fce7ac Use the calibrated/adjustable i8254 frequency `timer_freq' instead of
TIMER_FREQ.

Fixed missing splx() in scrn_timer(). The bug was harmless because of the
undocumented behaviour that the ipl is automatically restored for timeout
functions (see softclock()). Perhaps we should depend on this behaviour.

Fixed the ddb fix in rev.1.176. The in_debugger flag was no use because
it only works when the debugger is entered via the keyboard hotkey. The
debugger may be entered for breakpoints and traps, and the console putc
routine has no way of knowing when it was, so the console putc routine
must (almost?) always remove the cursor image.

Not fixed: console switching in ddb doesn't work (ISTR it working), and
console 0 shouldn't be switched to for the debugger hotkey unless console
0 is /dev/console.

Fixed side effects from calling add_keyboard_randomness() in the console
getc routine by not calling it. add_keyboard_randomness() currently
always reenables interrupts on 386's and 486's. This is very bad if the
console getc routine is called from the debugger and the debugger was
entered with interrupts disabled.

Fixed preservation of initial screen and now-bogus comment about it. It
was broken by setting the initial scr_buf to `buffer' instead of Crtat.
`buffer' was full of nulls and the first scroll cleared everything above
the things written through syscons.

ebedb5ad97 Cleaned up all headers that include <sys/ioctl.h> or <sys/ioccom.h>:
- don't include <sys/ioctl.h> in any header. Include <sys/ioccom.h>
instead. This was already done in 4.4Lite for the most important
ioctl headers. Header spam currently increases kernel build
times by 10-20%. There are more than 30000 #includes (not counting
  duplicates) for compiling LINT.
- include <sys/types.h> if and only it is necessary to make the header
almost self-sufficient (some ioctl headers still need structs from
  elsewhere).
- uniformized idempotency ifdefs. Copied the style in the 4.4Lite
  ioctl headers.

9545a0eaa4 Hack workaround XFree86 switching failure when used with /dev/sysmouse
and xdm, possibly in general.

What was happening was that the server was doing a tcsetattr(.. TCSADRAIN)
on the mouse fd after a write. Since /dev/sysmouse had a null t_oproc,
the drain failed with EIO. Somehow this spammed XFree86 (!@&^#%*& binary
release!!), and the driver was left in a bogus state (ie: switch_in_progress
permanently TRUE).

The simplest way out was to implement a dummy scmousestart() routine to
accept any characters from the tty system and toss them into the void.

It would probably be more correct to intercept scwrite()'s to the mouse
device, but that's executed for every single write to the screen.
Supplying a start routine to eat the characters is only executed for the
mouse port during startup/shutdown, so it should be faster.

7fa8a688aa Add preliminary support for the Orion PCI chip set. It is special in the
way it attaches multiple PCI buses directly to the CPU, instead of having
them hanging off from PCI to PCI bridges. This code is a hack, and will
be obsoleted by the planned rework of the PCI code, which will change the
dealing with PCI to PCI bridges and other special devices significantly.

The patch also adds a kern_devconf entry for PCI bus 0 which is assumed
to be a child of cpu0. The new PCI code will make it possible to hand out
the kern_devconf structure to a pci device being attached, since this is
(regretably, IMHO) required by a few ISA devices.

Finally there are new PCI ids for some Intel chip set devices, which had
already been known to 2.1.5R, but did not make it into -current. This closes
"kern/1558: PCI probe seems to have lost a device in -current".
